Just found a new player on the bulletin board market, and it's free.

From the screenshots, it looks decent, but almost a knockoff of IPB from the default forum view. I should try it out, see how it compares

well yea but you can say that for every forum software...
In my opinion MyBB is a mix between IPB and Vbulletin.

I heard that AEF project is 6 month old, and for that short time I think they have done a great job. If they continue to develop it at this speed it could become better than MyBB.

I'm coming across this alot recently, I've heard it's not very sercure and is built pretty badly.

However, I haven't tried it and personally like how it looks. I have mentioned before it looks like it's built using IPB early days, although many forums aim towards looking like it. (like ivan mentioned with MyBB)

hmm, I think someone told me it is SMF ripoff, or based on SMF.

Built pretty badly -> very messy code!!

I think, they are trying to make something more appealing at first look, rather than concentrating on a good and clean code.

We'll if they sort it out as they progress it should be promising, can only go up or down. (good or bad)

I'll stick with MyBB and IPB though
